Favorite album: The Beatles Abbey Road

I probably didn’t come to appreciate and recognize the incredible music The Beatles released until the Magical Mystery Tour album. It was the first Beatles album I bought. That’s not to say I didn’t like them, but the radio waves were always flooded with Beatles songs, and I Want to Hold Your Hand was just a little too pop for me. After I started listening to more of their music, I could hear the growth in their songwriting and music.

Then the floodgates opened for me when I first heard the Abbey Road album. Each song was great in itself but as it transitioned from start to finish, I thought that this was their best. George Harrison’s Something and Hear Comes the Sun is still on my top favorites list.

The album flows from one song to the next and side 2 ends with that marvelous medley, which features all 4 of them contributing to showcase the genius of the album. The End is lush with harmonies and highlights the Moog. Paul’s line of the Love you take is equal to the Love you make. So very true.
